Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using Skilfo ("the Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you are a parent or guardian registering on behalf of a child under 18, you accept these Terms on their behalf.

2. Eligibility

  • Parents/Guardians: Must be at least 18 years old to create an account
  • Students: Must be 6–18 years old. Student accounts can only be created by a registered parent/guardian
  • Coaches/Teachers/School Admins: Must be at least 18 years old and have their account approved by a Skilfo administrator

3. Account Types & Responsibilities

Skilfo supports the following roles:

  • Parent: Creates and manages child accounts, controls privacy settings, approves content visibility, grants data sharing consent
  • Student: Creates portfolio items, earns badges, participates in academy events
  • Coach: Manages academy, issues badges, creates events, uploads student achievements
  • Teacher: Views student data (with parental consent), writes observations, generates HPC reports
  • School Admin: Manages school enrollment, invites teachers, accesses consented student data

4. Content Guidelines

All content uploaded to Skilfo must:

  • Be appropriate for a child-safe platform
  • Not contain violence, abuse, harassment, or sexually explicit material
  • Not infringe on intellectual property rights of others
  • Be truthful and not misrepresent achievements or credentials
  • Not contain personal identifiable information of other children without their parent's consent

We reserve the right to moderate, flag, or remove content that violates these guidelines. All student-created content is subject to moderation before being made visible.

5. Privacy & Data Protection

Your use of Skilfo is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which details how we collect, use, and protect your data in compliance with the DPDP Act, 2023. Key points:

  • All child content defaults to PRIVATE visibility
  • Parents have full control over their child's data visibility
  • Data sharing between academies and schools requires explicit parental consent
  • You may request data export or account deletion at any time

6. Badges & Verification

Badges issued on Skilfo are verifiable digital credentials. Each badge has a unique verification code and QR code. Badge issuers (coaches/academies) are responsible for the accuracy of the badge criteria and issuance. Skilfo does not independently verify the underlying achievement — we verify that the badge was issued by an authorized academy on the platform.

7. AI-Powered Features

Skilfo uses AI for skill mapping, certificate design, academy page generation, and HPC report assistance. AI processing:

  • Is optional and can be disabled in profile settings
  • Does not store or train on children's personal data
  • Generates suggestions that teachers/coaches can edit before finalizing
  • Uses age-appropriate language adjusted to the student's age tier

8. Prohibited Activities

You may not:

  • Create accounts using false identity information
  • Access another user's account without authorization
  • Attempt to circumvent privacy controls or access private data
  • Use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or extract data from the platform
  • Upload malware, viruses, or malicious code
  • Use the platform for any purpose that violates Indian law, including POCSO Act, IT Act, or DPDP Act

9. Child Safety & POCSO Compliance

As mandated by the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012:

  • Any content depicting child sexual abuse material (CSAM) will be immediately removed
  • Such content will be reported to the relevant authorities
  • Accounts involved will be permanently suspended
  • We maintain a mandatory reporting mechanism for suspected CSAM

10. Account Termination

You may delete your account at any time through account settings. Upon deletion:

  • All personal data will be erased within 30 days
  • Badges issued by you (as a coach) will remain on student profiles as historical records
  • Consent records will be retained for audit purposes
  • Application logs will be retained for 180 days as required by law

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, with notice provided where legally required.

11. Limitation of Liability

Skilfo is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for:

  • Accuracy of badges or achievements uploaded by third-party coaches/schools
  • Loss of data due to circumstances beyond our control
  • Actions of other users on the platform
  • Service interruptions or technical issues

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of courts in Hyderabad, Telangana, India.

13. Grievance Redressal

If you have any concerns or complaints, please use our Grievance Portal or email grievance@skilfo.com. We will acknowledge your complaint within 24 hours and resolve it within 15 days as required by the IT Intermediary Rules, 2021.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified via email and in-app notification at least 30 days before taking effect. Your continued use of Skilfo constitutes acceptance of updated Terms.
